Camping in Maine -- Where To Pitch Your Tent

maine-campground-ocean.jpg

I like camping in Maine.

The smell of the pines (Maine state nickname – Pine Tree State!), smell of the Atlantic ocean and campfires, or the feel of a fresh breeze off a lake.

You wake up and you're outside in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I'm married, however, to a man who thinks “camping in Maine” should only be done in a place with four walls, a roof, comfy beds and people who knock on the door in the morning, then come in and make the beds for you. Room service, too!

Consequently, I don't get to do a lot of camping in Maine.

But I see and visit all of our York Maine campgrounds, check out what they've got and what they haven't got, and note where they are.

This page is designed to help you decide where to go tent camping in Maine, so I've tried to include everything that you'd want to know: can I walk to the beach from there, do they have a playground, a pool, etc.

Just don't forget to pack the hammock, 'cause all happy York campers need a hammock!
