I love thee because thee has no sand that I will find in the bathing suits for years to come, and I love thee because thou art much warmer than yonder sea.
Thy whirlpool hot tub and poolside martinis, they comfort me.
All right, enough of that silliness! Here's a list of accommodations in York and York Beach that have pools.
Some pools are smaller than others and may not please everyone in the group, but if a pool is a necessity for your vacation, then you can consider these places. There may be one or two spots I've missed, but I'm always on the lookout...
(And I don't need to tell you that if a hotel in York, Maine has an outdoor pool it isn't going to be open in January, do I? Didn't think so!)
The Anchorage Inn – Across the street from Long Sands beach, two indoor and one new (2009) outdoor pool, poolside cafe, outdoor hot tub, outdoor kiddie pool and wet deck
The Grand View Inn & Cottages – Across the street and at the Harbor end of Long Sands beach, indoor pool
The Sea Latch - Across the street from Long Sands beach, outdoor pool
The Long Beach Motor Inn - Across the street from Long Sands beach, outdoor pool
The Sea Turn - At the Nubble lighthouse end of Long Sands beach, outdoor pool
The Lighthouse Inn & Carriage House - Just a little bit up Nubble Road, outdoor pool
The Viewpoint (open seasonally) – Overlooking Nubble Light, outdoor pool
Stage Neck Inn – Adjacent to York Harbor beach, indoor pool, indoor hot tub, large outdoor pool practically on Harbor Beach (editor's note: every time I leave Harbor beach in the summer and walk by the folks enjoying this pool, I wish I was staying at Stage Neck!)
The Cliff House – Yup, perched on a cliff away from the beaches but overlooking the Atlantic near the York/Ogunquit line, 75 foot indoor lap pool at the spa for adults only, indoor family pool and two outdoor pools, one of which is adults only
Microtel – On Route 1, 5-10 minute drive to beaches, indoor pool and hot tub
Best Western – On Route 1, 5-10 minute drive to beaches, indoor pool
Mic Mac hotel – On Route 1, outdoor pool
The Ocean House condos – Across the street from Short Sands beach, indoor pool
The Country View – On Route 1 in Cape Neddick, outdoor pool
Meadowmere Resort – On Route 1 in Ogunquit, indoor pool, outdoor pool, outdoor hot tub, Roman spa
Sands by the Sea – Across the street from Short Sands beach, outdoor pool
